Board Member Roles
There are many people who help ensure that the Hutchinson Chapter of Women of Today remains an integral part of our community. Below is a list of the current board positions along with a description of the job duties.
The President plans and runs all the monthly meetings and does the same for the monthly board meetings. The President is the leader who serves as the voice of the chapter and represents the chapter in the community. The President is expected to attend state conventions and district meetings, when possible. This position can be time-consuming, but is also fulfilling.
The State Delegate serves as the liaison between the chapter and other levels of Women of Today, such as district, state, and national. The State Delegate leads the voting delegation at district meeting and state conventions. The State Delegate may also arrange visitations to other chapters.
As the Past President and Parliamentarian, the officer is in charge of the annual bylaw review and chairs the Nominating Committee for recruiting board members for the next year. Parliamentarian duties include ensuring that the meetings run efficiently through the use of Robert’s Rules of Order and the chapter’s bylaws and policies.
The duties of the Secretary include attending the monthly general meetings and the monthly board meetings where she accurately records the minutes and motions of the meetings for future reference of the chapter.
The Treasurer is busy keeping things in balance for the chapter. She is responsible for tracking the chapter finances and accounts, informing everyone the project amounts budgeted and used for various activities, and giving an account update at every general meeting.
Programming Vice President
The External Vice President is responsible for supervising program areas that are to the benefit of the community around us. She offers help and guidance to members that are leading the various external programs. Program areas include: Community Connections, Domestic Violence Awareness, Women’s Wellness, Youth of Today, and Wishes and More.
Membership Vice President
The Internal Vice President is responsible for supervising program areas that are to the benefit of the chapter members. She offers help and guidance to members that are leading the various internal programs. Program areas include: Ways and Means, Living and Learning, Newsletter, Records and Recognition, and Public Relations.
